What is CranioSacral Therapy ( CST) ?

It is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the physiological body system called the craniosacral system.  It is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, CranioSacral Therapy naturally reduces pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease and enhances your health and well-being.  And because it’s so gentle, CranioSacral Therapy has proven effective for all ages, from newborns to elders.

How is CST Performed?

A typical CST session takes place in a quiet setting where you remain fully clothed and are lying on a massage table.  Your therapist will monitor the rhythm of this system and using specific techniques will gently release restrictions in your body and head.  This will improve the function of your central nervous system creating deep relaxation and healing.  A session is usually 60 minutes in length.    Each session is highly individual as each person’s body has an innate ability to heal itself and the practitioner will tune into your own body’s wisdom “ Your Inner Physician” and work to release what restrictions your body needs to.

What will it feel like?

CST is a manual therapy and it employs a gentle, light touch. Most clients find CST to be deeply relaxing and  very pleasant.  During the course of a session, as restrictions are released in your tissues, you may feel any of a variety of sensations: heat or cold, a pulse or tremor, a feeling of fullness in the area, occasionally a memory of what you might have experienced in this part of your body may occur.  Some clients occasionally  notice colors and or state the feel like they are in a dreamlike state.
